Game Harmony Ltd is a Finnish company that produces game music concerts.
The company is run single-handedly by me, Nikolas Broman. I’ve been a fan of game music since childhood, a fan of game music concerts since 2009, and a game music concert producer since 2016.
Why do you produce game music concerts?
Because many of the best experiences in my life have been game music concerts, and I want to give other the same kind of joy.
I also believe there is a lot of demand for game music concerts. They often seem to sell out (at least here in Europe) and there are still many known games and game series, whose music hasn’t been yet featured much in concerts. Also, the video game industry just keeps on growing.
My third reason is that I know a lot about game music concerts anyway, I have contacts to many concert producers and I speak Japanese fluently.
Did you previously go by the name VGM Tiger Prodcutions?
Yes, but I decided to change it to Game Harmony, since it’s shorter, calmer and more neutral.
Originally I organized concerts under the name VGM Land, which people still remember. (I was once stopped in public by two guys, who said: “Hey, you’re the producer guy from VGM Land, right?”. I still remember that fondly.) Before all of this I ran blipico.com and before that also vgminfo.com, of which there are no traces left anymore.
So for the last five years I have been trying to come up with great names for game music sites, and finally Game Harmony feels like the right one.
Is this your main job?
I also work as a doorman, a travel advisor, and a Japanese teacher. I have a bachelor’s degree in Media Engineering, which doesn’t relate to my current jobs, but helped me create this website and that logo in the upper-left corner.
I have made my own arrangements of game music. Could you organize a concert from my pieces?
Maybe. Please contact me and send a proposal that is as concrete as possible.
However, I also encourage you to organize the concert yourself. If you already have all the sheet music for a concert, one of the hardest things is already accomplished. You can rent a concert hall and the musicians, and organizing a concert is not rocket science in the end. I would gladly give you tips and help as much as I can.
When I started myself, I had never dabbled in event productions, and I didn’t have a clue about entrepreneurship or self-employment. Somehow I thought that even as a private person I could just rent a hall and sell tickets. I didn’t know I would need to start a company or an association. But you learn by doing!
